However, with time there has been a big change in the ways of celebrating this festival. Technology has given a new digital style to the traditions of Rakhi.
Nowadays, 'Brother, do UPI' is heard jokingly among many brothers and sisters. That is, where earlier after Rakhi, cash or gift was given to the sister, now money can be transferred through mobile in a few seconds. Apart from this, online shopping and video calls have also made it easier for brothers and sisters living far away to celebrate the festival.

Earlier one had to go to the market to buy a gift for my sister. After buying clothes, jewellery, bags or other favorite things, the brother himself used to give them to the sister. Now online shopping has made this task quite easy. Brother can order goods of his choice for his sister sitting at home. Many times the gift reaches the sister's house directly.
