Kanpur/Lucknow: This year the festival of Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on Friday, 28th August. According to Astrologer Pt. Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Purnima Tithi will start on 27th August at 9:08 am and Bhadra will also start with it. Bhadra will remain till 9:32 pm. According to religious beliefs, Rakshabandhan is not celebrated during Bhadra period, hence the festival will be celebrated on 28th August.
Auspicious time to tie Rakhi from morning on 28th August
The full moon date will remain till 9:48 am on 28th August. Based on Udaya Tithi, celebrating Rakshabandhan on this day is considered auspicious.
The auspicious time for tying Rakhi will start from 5:47 am. Apart from this, Abhijeet Muhurta will be from 11:44 am to 12:35 pm, which is considered especially auspicious for tying Rakhi.
Those who are not able to tie Rakhi till afternoon can celebrate this festival till evening also. Since Purnima Tithi lasts for more than two and a half hours in Udaya Tithi, it will not be considered wrong to tie Rakhi in the evening.
Lunar eclipse on the day of Rakshabandhan, but no effect in India
This time a lunar eclipse is also occurring on the day of Rakshabandhan. However, this eclipse will not be visible in India. Therefore, it will not have any impact on the timing of celebrating Rakshabandhan or tying Rakhi in India.
When to break the Sawan fast?
Those who observe fasts or rituals throughout the month of Sawan can break the fast after the Purnima Tithi ends on August 28 at 9:48 am.

Keep Roli or Kumkum, Akshat, lamp, sweets, Rakhi, flowers and fruits for worship on Rakshabandhan. First of all remember Lord Ganesha and your favorite deity.
After this, make the brother sit on a clean seat and apply Tilak and Akshat. After Aarti, tie Raksha-sutra on his right wrist. Tie three knots in Rakhi and feed sweets to your brother and take a pledge for his happiness, prosperity and protection.
Why is tying Rakhi on the right hand considered auspicious?
