Tezzbuzz Desk Bharatiya Janata Party's National Vice President Ram Madhav targeted Congress and Rahul Gandhi and alleged that the party is making false statements regarding the electoral process and democratic institutions. In a press conference held in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that Congress is working to defame democracy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He claimed that the educated class of the country is not accepting the ideas of Congress.
Ram Madhav also raised questions while referring to the recent Congress rally organized at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. He said that Ramlila Maidan has a capacity of about 60 thousand people, that too in a standing position, whereas the people of 20 Congress parties together could gather only about 50 thousand people. He said that BJP is bringing the truth of Congress in front of the people and Rahul Gandhi's allegations are ridiculous.
Rahul Gandhi and SIR process targeted
Commenting on Rahul Gandhi's foreign tours, Ram Madhav said that he goes abroad every second month. While defending the SIR i.e. Special Intensive Review process, he called it a computer based process. According to him, the names of voters who do not meet the prescribed standards can be removed from the list, but those whose names are removed get an opportunity to appeal again.
He claimed that a special process is going on for the voters whose names have been removed. Ram Madhav said that no voter will be deprived of his democratic right. He also alleged that Congress is campaigning through false claims regarding SIR. He said that BJP will go door-to-door and tell people about the alleged false statements of Congress.
Mentioned about Jammu and Kashmir elections of 1987
While attacking Congress, the BJP leader also mentioned Indira Gandhi and the 1987 Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. He raised allegations of alleged rigging during the alliance of Farooq Abdullah and Rajiv Gandhi in that election. Ram Madhav claimed that after that election, conditions were created for the rise of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also raised questions on Congress's stand against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Ram Madhav said that Congress had lost many elections before, even though Gyanesh Kumar was not the Chief Election Commissioner at that time. In such a situation, he also raised the question of who the party should have held responsible for its defeat.
Responding to the ongoing developments in the National Conference of Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav called it an internal matter of the party. He said that he did not want to comment on this.
Ram Madhav alleged that by continuously raising questions on electoral institutions, efforts are being made to weaken the public's trust in democracy. After his statements regarding Congress and Rahul Gandhi, the political debate regarding the electoral process, SIR and the role of democratic institutions has again intensified.
