‘Ramayana’ IMAX 3D screening faces technical issues at Navi Mumbai theatre

A special trip to watch Ramayana in IMAX 3D reportedly turned into a disappointing experience for some viewers after technical problems interrupted a screening at a theatre in Navi Mumbai.

The incident came to light after a video showing an argument between moviegoers and theatre staff began circulating on social media. The screening reportedly took place at Cinepolis in Seawoods, where viewers had purchased tickets specifically to watch the Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash-starrer in 3D.

The video was shared by a content creator known as Avi Ka Gram. Expressing his frustration, he wrote, “Ramayana IMAX 3D big issue. Rs. 1,500 waste ho gaya.”

He also explained what had happened during the show. According to him, the film initially played without the 3D effect. The screening then stopped after the 3D format started working.

“All this chaos is going on because we are going to see Ramayana movie in IMAX 3D, going to Seawoods Cinepolis Mall,” he said in the video.

The viewer added that the group had chosen the venue because it was their available option for an IMAX screening. He described the experience as disappointing, saying that the film had not started in the format they had paid for and was later paused.

The content creator also claimed that theatre staff offered refunds and tickets for another show. However, some viewers had travelled from other areas, including Ulhasnagar, specifically to watch the film in IMAX 3D.

He said, “But everyone had to watch it in IMAX. Every morning, spending Rs. 1,000-2,000, some people specially came from Ulhasnagar to watch 3D in IMAX.”

According to the video, the viewers eventually had to watch the film in 2D despite purchasing tickets for the 3D experience.

Towards the end of his post, the content creator asked the film’s makers and Cinepolis management to look into the technical problems.

“If anyone is watching the makers or the management team of Cinepolis Mall is watching, then please fix this, because this happens every time,” he said.

The incident gained attention online as Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, arrived in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026.
