Production house Mythri Movie Makers has officially dropped the teaser for Rahul Sankrityan’s highly anticipated period action drama, Ranabaali.
Starring Vijay Deverakonda, Arnold Vosloo, and Rashmika Mandanna, the film takes viewers back to 19th-century South India to explore a dark chapter of British rule.
A Tale of Famine, Oppression, and Rebellion
Set between 1876 and 1878—a devastating era when roughly eight million Indian lives were lost to a British-made famine—the teaser introduces Arnold Vosloo as Sir Theodore Hector, a tyrannical ruler over the Madras constituency. Hector ruthlessly rations essential grains, driving the local populace into severe starvation.
The narrative shifts as Vijay Deverakonda’s character, Ranabaali, rises as a fierce rebel to wage war against the oppressors. Branded a “savage” by the British, Ranabaali unleashes brutal violence to protect his people. Rashmika Mandanna portrays his wife, Jayamma, a woman deeply affected by the catastrophe.
First On-Screen Project Post-Marriage
Ranabaali marks the dynamic duo’s return to the big screen together following their popular collaborations in Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019). It is also their first film release since tying the knot earlier this year.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Ranabaali is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on October 16.
