Ranbir Kapoor as Purushottam Ram, Yash as Ravana; Meet the Star-Studded Cast of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana

New Delhi: Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana brings together stars from across Indian cinema for an ambitious retelling of the revered epic. Following the film’s grand trailer launch in New Delhi, attention has shifted to its expansive cast and the iconic characters they are set to portray.

Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram

Ranbir Kapoor leads the film as Lord Ram, the eldest son of King Dasharatha and a figure associated with duty, compassion and righteousness.

Sai Pallavi as Sita

Sai Pallavi portrays Mata Sita, whose dignity, courage and resilience remain central to the story.

Yash as Ravana

Kannada star Yash plays Lankapati Ravana. The film is expected to present the character’s intellect, power, pride and complexity alongside his role as the principal antagonist.

Ravi Dubey as Lakshman

Ravi Dubey appears as Lakshman, Lord Ram’s devoted younger brother who accompanies him during his exile.

Arun Govil as King Dasharatha

Arun Govil, remembered for portraying Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s television series, takes on the role of King Dasharatha.

Lara Dutta plays Queen Kaikeyi, while Indira Krishnan and Sonal Jha portray Queens Kaushalya and Sumitra. Sheeba Chaddha appears as Manthara.

Sages, Gods and Ayodhya’s Princes

Shishir Sharma portrays Maharshi Vashistha, Ajinkya Deo plays Maharshi Vishvamitra and Mukesh Tiwari appears as Maharshi Agastya. Adinath Kothare plays Bharat, while Nitish Sharma portrays Shatrughan. Kunal Kapoor appears as Devaraj Indra.

Characters From Lanka

Kajal Aggarwal plays Mandodari, Shobana portrays Kaikesi and Rakul Preet Singh appears as Shurpanakha.

Faisal Malik plays Kumbhakarna, Harish Uthaman portrays Vibhishana and Vivek Oberoi appears as Vidyutjihva. Saurabh Sachdeva plays Maricha.

Anupam Kher takes on the role of Jatayu, who sacrifices his life while trying to protect Sita. The two-part epic is produced by Namit Malhotra’s DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Its first installment is scheduled for Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in 2027.
