Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana is reportedly heading to Chinese theaters with a different title as the epic expands its international release.
Almost 10 years after Dangal captivated Chinese audiences, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is preparing to enter the world’s second-largest theatrical market.
Social media discussions suggest that Ramayana will be released in China under the reported title “The Legend of Prince,” with Sony Pictures expected to distribute the film in the country.
Ahead of Ramayana: Part 1’s release, the makers are reportedly gearing up for promotional activities across China.
Sources previously came forward and revealed that Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra were considering a China promotional push for Ramayana: Part 1with a tentative press event and screening at the Pingyao International Film Festival on September 24.
Following the September 24 event, the team could possibly embark on a multi-city promotional tour across China during Golden Week from October 1.
The film is scheduled for an international theatrical release on November 6, with Ramayana: Part 1 reaching Indian theaters two days later on November 8 around Diwali.
Speaking to NDTV about the different release dates, Namit explained, ““We are releasing internationally (on November 6) because the international distribution works from a Friday standpoint, which is the 6th of November. But (in) India, currently, we are targeting the Diwali release.”
Nitesh’s Ramayana brings Valmiki’s epic to the big screen as a planned two-part cinematic saga.
Ranbir Kapoor stars as Lord Rama, Yash plays Ravana and Sai Pallavi portrays Sita in Ramayanaalongside cast Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor.
Following the first installment in 2026, Ramayana: Part 2 is scheduled to arrive in theaters during Diwali 2027.
