Controversy before the release of Ranveer Singh's film Pralaya

This decision enraged the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) as the Under-14 and Under-16 interschool cricket matches were postponed due to the shooting. Expressing displeasure over this matter, MCA Apex Council member Nadeem Memon said, 'For the first time a film has been shot in Azad Maidan. For the shooting of 'Pralaya', huge sets were set up here and artificial grass was laid. This is not a film shooting place, but a cricket ground, where players hone their talent to reach the international level. Our ongoing tournaments were affected due to the shooting. Who will take responsibility for this loss? Cricket grounds cannot be used commercially by allowing the shooting of a commercial film.

MCA raised questions

Nadeem further said, 'Because of the sports department, the sports culture of Azad Maidan is being affected. Instead of promoting sports, the department is allowing commercial booking of the grounds. We are working to develop young cricketers and organize many interstate tournaments. But due to the shooting of the film we had to postpone the matches. How can the sports department allow this?
