Yogi government's Diwali gift, more than 14 lakh employees will get bonus, money will come directly into their accounts

UP News: This Diwali is going to be very special and full of happiness for the government employees of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has put a big gift in the bags of state employees just before the festival. A formal decision has been taken by the government to give ad-hoc bonus i.e. non-productivity linked bonus equal to 30 days' salary to the state employees for the financial year 2025-26. This decision has brought joy to the faces of lakhs of employees working in offices across the state. This financial assistance during the festive season will further enhance the festive atmosphere in the homes and families of the employees.

Lakhs of employees will get direct benefits

Under the order issued by the government, the scope of this bonus has been kept quite wide. All non-gazetted employees of the state government will mainly benefit from this. Apart from this, eligible employees working in government aided educational institutions, technical educational institutions, local bodies and district panchayats have also been included in it. Not only this, daily wage employees who have been serving for a long time have also been made a part of this scheme, who will get a maximum bonus of Rs 1,184 as per the rules. More than 14.82 lakh employees in the entire state will directly benefit from this gift.

How much money will come into the account and what is the method of payment?

Regarding bonus payment, there is a question in the minds of the employees that how much money will they get in their hands. According to government guidelines, the maximum calculation limit of bonus has been fixed at Rs 7,000. This entire amount will be divided into two different parts. 25 percent of the total bonus amount, subject to a maximum of Rs 1,750, will be sent in cash directly to the employee's bank account. This has been done so that the employees can shop in the Diwali market as per their need and choice. The remaining 75 percent, up to a maximum of Rs 5,250, will be deposited directly into the employee's General Provident Fund (GPF) account.

Separate arrangement for employees outside GPF

The government has also prepared a complete scheme for those employees who are not covered under the provident fund system. 75 percent of such employees will be sent to the Tier-2 account of the National Pension System i.e. NPS or they will be given this savings amount in the form of National Savings Certificate. In this way, by creating a better balance between savings and expenditure, financial security has also been provided to the employees. This big step of the government will put an additional economic burden of about Rs 1,022 crore on the exchequer of Uttar Pradesh.

Which employees will be considered eligible for bonus?

The government has also set some necessary qualifications and conditions to receive the bonus. This benefit will be given only to those employees who fall in non-gazetted category and whose grade pay is Rs. 4,800 or level-8 of the revised pay scale or less. Apart from this, the concerned employee must have completed at least one year of continuous regular service by 31 March 2026. In the case of daily wage earners, this condition has been kept that they should have completed at least 240 days of work every year in the last three years. This amount of bonus will soon be transferred to the accounts of the employees who fulfill all these conditions.
