Ravi Kishan spoke openly on censorship, said that filmmakers should not hurt anyone’s sentiments.

New Delhi. Popular Bhojpuri and Hindi cinema actor and MP Ravi Kishan has reacted to the ongoing debate regarding censorship in films. He said that the Censor Board’s objections to films or demand for changes is not a new thing but this process has been going on for years. Ravi Kishan says that the responsibility of any filmmaker and artist is not limited only to entertainment but he is also accountable towards the society and history.

Recently, during a conversation, Ravi Kishan was asked about the controversy and censorship surrounding actor Diljit Dosanjh’s film. On this he clearly said that he did not have detailed information about that entire matter. He told that all he knows is that a film was released and later it was removed but it would not be appropriate to comment on any controversy without complete information.

However, he openly expressed his opinion on the issue of censorship. Ravi Kishan said that whenever a film is made, its producer, director and artists should keep in mind that their presentation should not hurt the sentiments of any community and any historical event should not be presented in a wrong manner. According to him, films have a deep impact on the society and the young generation is also greatly influenced by them, hence it is very important to create content responsibly.

He said that the job of artists is not only to entertain but also to fulfill their moral responsibility towards the society. If facts are distorted or false information is shown in a film or story, it can have a long-term impact on people’s thinking. Therefore, caution should be taken at every level, from writing to production.

Ravi Kishan also said that if any objection is raised by the Censor Board on any of his films, he will first try to find out what the problem is. If any scene or dialogue hurts the sentiments of any section or if history is shown in a wrong way, then he will have no objection to correcting it. He said that making films takes a lot of time, effort and money, so it is better to find a solution instead of controversy.

He also mentioned the history regarding censorship. Ravi Kishan said that cuts being made on films or questions being raised on creative expression have happened earlier also. Giving examples, he said that many popular films also had to face objections from the censor board. According to him, this is not only the situation today but such incidents have been happening during the previous governments also.

Ravi Kishan believes that it is important to maintain a balance between creative freedom and social responsibility. He said that the film industry should take special care of sensitivity and accuracy of facts while working on such subjects so that along with entertainment, positive messages also reach the society.
