FD New Rules: If you are going to get FD in the bank, then it would be good if you know the rules. According to media reports, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made a major change in the rules for giving interest rates on deposits by banks. It is believed that under the new changes the interest rate system of banks will be made more transparent. This change is said to be implemented from October 1, 2026.
However, due to these changes, there may not be any major change or significant difference in the returns on retail fixed deposits (FD). But, now the rules of FD interest rates will be made more transparent by the banks.
Interest rates will be updated daily
According to media reports, from now on FD interest rates will be updated by different banks on their websites. Especially banks will have to upload the bulk deposit rates on their website at 10 am. Only 10 minutes grace time has been given by RBI for this. All interest rates will be available for viewing on the bank’s website by 10:10 am. With this you will be able to get information about the interest of any FD.
Rates can be fixed on bulk deposits
If seen, the new rules related to bank deposits will be applicable to commercial banks, small finance banks, regional rural banks (RRBs) as well as local area banks as well as urban cooperative banks. Banks will have the freedom to fix rates of Rs 3 crore or more. Banks will be able to do this easily under the new guidelines.
