Monsoon has fully gained momentum across the country. Disasters raining from the sky have disrupted life in many states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh bulletin warning that the monsoon rains are going to intensify in most parts of the country on Tuesday, July 21. Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted from North India to the Northeast and from Central India to the coastal areas of the South. The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain alert to avoid situations like waterlogging and landslides in hilly areas.
In fact, the worst situation is being seen in Jammu and Kashmir, where due to continuous torrential rains and landslides, the death toll has increased to 16 in the last two days. According to the administration, 7 people are still missing and are being searched. Due to floods and continuously worsening weather in areas like Poonch and Rajouri, relief and rescue operations are facing a lot of problems. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself is keeping an eye on the situation and has instructed the officials to speed up the relief operations.
Red alert of heavy rain in 12 districts of UP
The most ferocious form of monsoon can be seen in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of extremely heavy rain for 12 districts of the state and their surrounding areas within the next 24 hours. According to meteorologists, this situation has arisen in the state due to strong monsoon winds coming from the Bay of Bengal. The districts where the administration has been asked to be especially alert include Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kasganj, Etah, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal and Badaun.
Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for parts of southern Uttar Pradesh from July 21 to July 25. During this period, there is a possibility of lightning and heavy thunderstorms along with showers. On Tuesday, heavy rain is expected in almost all the divisions of Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh, which will provide relief to the people from the heat but may create the problem of waterlogging.
How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR and hilly states?
Tuesday is going to be a pleasant day for the people of Delhi-NCR. There is a possibility of cloudy sky, light to moderate rain and strong winds in the capital and surrounding areas since morning, due to which a fall in mercury will be recorded. At the same time, if we talk about the mountains, the problems in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are showing no sign of abating. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in both the hilly states. Due to this rain in the mountains, the risk of landslides and road closure has increased significantly, hence tourists have been advised to postpone the trip for the time being. Rain with thunder and lightning is also expected in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan.
Monsoon speed in central and south India
Monsoon activities are also fully active in the states of Central and Western India. Intermittent rains will continue in many areas of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa. Heavy rain has been warned in parts of MP and Chhattisgarh, while heavy rain may also occur in the Ghat areas of Goa and Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department has specifically issued an advisory for farmers to make proper drainage arrangements in their fields so that the crops do not get damaged.
On the other hand, heavy rainfall is expected at some places in Kerala and coastal Karnataka in South India. Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep may also experience thundershowers, while parts of Tamil Nadu will see a humid atmosphere with light rain. IMD has made it clear that monsoon will remain active in most parts of the country for the next few days, hence people should avoid unnecessary travel in bad weather and avoid going to open places during lightning.
