Politics has intensified regarding the graduate and teacher elections 2026 of Bihar Legislative Council. The election dates are yet to be announced, but before that, Rashtriya Janata Dal has announced the names of its candidates on 6 out of 8 seats. The first list released under the signature of RJD state president Mangani Lal Mandal includes the names of candidates from Patna, Saran, Tirhut, Koshi and Darbhanga seats.
This time, the party has fielded candidates in both teacher and graduate categories keeping in mind the social equation and educational proficiency. There is still churning going on within the party on two seats, on which the second list is likely to be released soon.

According to the first list released by RJD, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh has been made the candidate from Patna teacher constituency. Dr. Sanjeev holds a good command among the teachers and has been associated with the organization for a long time.
Dilip Kumar has been fielded from Patna Graduate constituency. Dilip Kumar is a young face and has been active among graduate voters. Prof. from Saran teacher constituency. Jairam Yadav has been given the ticket. Prof. Yadav is a well-known name in the education world and is considered to have a strong hold in teachers' organizations.

Dr. Rashmi Vinayak Gautam candidate from Tirhut region
Dr. Rashmi Vinayak Gautam has been made the candidate from Tirhut Graduate Constituency. RJD has played a big gamble by fielding a woman candidate in Tirhut. Dr. Rashmi Vinayak Gautam has been active in social work and is well known among the graduate voters. RJD has declared Nitish Kumar from Kosi Graduate Constituency and Anil Kumar Jha from Darbhanga Graduate Constituency as its authorized candidates. In both the seats, RJD has tried to solve the local equation.
Suspense still on two seats, second list will come soon
However, out of the total 8 seats of the Legislative Council, the names of the candidates have not been decided yet for 2 seats. According to party sources, many names are being discussed on these two seats and the possibility of victory is being examined along with the caste equation.
It is being told that talks are also going on with the alliance partners on these seats, only after which the final names will be finalized. The party leadership may release the second list soon.

Eye is on graduate and teacher voters
Elections for the graduates and teachers constituencies of the Legislative Council are completely different from the general elections. In this, voters are only graduates and teachers, hence the candidate's educational background and hold in teacher organizations matter a lot. This time RJD is eyeing to strengthen its hold among graduate and teacher voters. In the last elections, NDA and independent candidates had performed well on these seats, so RJD does not want to leave any stone unturned this time.
The party has instructed all its candidates to become active in the area from now on and contact teachers organizations and graduate voters. Election activities are expected to intensify on all 6 seats from Patna to Darbhanga. Political experts believe that RJD has in a way taken the lead by announcing the candidates ahead of time, while the NDA camp is still brainstorming on the names of the candidates.
