New Delhi. India's star Wushu athlete Roshibina Devi Naorem has made a big achievement by winning the silver medal in the Asian Games 2026. Roshibina faced China's Zhang Xiaoyu in the final of the women's 60 kg sanda category of the competition held in Nagoya. The Indian players had to face defeat by 0-2 in the title match. Zhang led 5-0 in both the rounds and won the match overall 10-0 and won the gold medal.
Roshibina definitely missed the gold in the final but her streak of winning medals in the Asian Games continued for the third consecutive time. She has won the bronze medal in the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games. After this, he won the silver medal in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. Now by winning silver in 2026 also, he has achieved the feat of winning medals in three consecutive editions in the Asian Games.
Roshibina Devi has become the first Indian woman to win three consecutive Wushu medals at the Asian Games. This achievement is also special for her because all three medals have come in the women's 60 kg sanda category only. After bronze in 2018, he has shown his consistency at the international level by winning silver in 2023 and 2026.
This time in the final match, China's Zhang Xiaoyu maintained the lead from the beginning. Zhang won 5–0 in the first round and repeated the same score in the second round. In this way the match ended with the score of 10-0. Roshibina had to be satisfied with the silver medal.
Roshibina Devi, who hails from Kwasify village in Bishnupur district of Manipur, belongs to a farmer family. She takes training at SAI NCOE, Imphal. In the women's 60 kg sanda category, she prepares under the supervision of coach Maibam Premkumar Singh. He had an interest in Wushu from an early age and consistently performed well in international competitions.
Roshibina won the gold medal in the Sanda 60 kg category at the 2019 South Asian Games. Apart from this, he also won gold in the 2017 Asian Junior Wushu Championship. He won the bronze medal in the 2016 World Junior Wushu Championship. He also won gold in the 2023 Moscow Wushu Star Championship.
In view of his achievements, he was honored with the Arjuna Award in 2023. In the same year, the International Wushu Federation also gave her the honor of Female Wushu Athlete of the Year Sanda. Asian Games 2026 silver is another big achievement added to his medal list.
Despite the 10-0 defeat in the gold medal match, Roshibina's Asian Games record has become special. His medal journey, which started in 2018, continued in 2023 and then in 2026 as well. She has registered her name in history as the first Indian female Wushu player to win medals in three consecutive Asian Games.
