Ruckus over Priyanka Gandhi's statement, more than 200 academicians came out in support of IIT Madras director

New Delhi: Now more than 200 academics have expressed their displeasure over a statement by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. These also include many Vice-Chancellors and former Vice-Chancellors. Everyone has written an open letter to Priyanka saying that IIT Madras Director Prof. To V. The letter writers say that this is not a matter of just one person. The real issue is how academic debate should take place. If there is disagreement with a scholar, the point should be made with logic and facts instead of applying personal labels.

215 academicians expressed objection!     

In this letter signed by 215 academicians, it has been said that they are Prof. to Kamakoti "cow urine expert" Disappointed with the comments being made.

It is written in the letter, "We are the Director of IIT Madras, Prof. Expressing our disappointment over your alleged comment calling V. Kamakoti a 'cow urine expert'. The academicians further said that every academician has the right to put forward his own hypothesis, discuss traditional knowledge and participate in scientific debate. If you don't like someone's ideas, then labeling them and rejecting them weakens the scientific temper, which our Constitution talks about promoting.

He also said, "Scientific thinking does not just mean questioning old ideas. It also means that before accepting or rejecting any claim, it should be examined objectively."

What did Priyanka Gandhi say in Parliament?    

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Priyanka Gandhi targeted the central government over education reforms. He mentioned the new committee formed after the NEET paper leak.

He said, "The government should understand that just forming new committees will not work. Not a single recommendation of the Radhakrishnan Committee has been implemented till date. And the new committee also includes a former IB chief, an IT company owner and a 'cow urine expert'."
