Russia has officially launched a new and attractive 'Talent Visa' program to attract skilled professionals and technical experts globally. Under this special 'Impatriation' program prepared on the guidelines of Russian President Vladimir Putin, talented scientists, engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, artists and sportspersons from all over the world including India are being invited to settle and work in Russia. The biggest attraction of this scheme is that the eligible professionals covered under it are completely exempted from the traditional quota system and mandatory initial Russian language test. What is Russia's new talent visa and its main benefits? This new visa system is completely different from the normal work visa or tourist visa. Under this, selected professionals and their family members get several important benefits: Multiple-Entry Visa: Selected applicants are provided with a multiple-entry visa with a validity of 1 to 3 years. 3-year TRP without quota: The applicant gets a direct 3-year Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) without any annual quota limit and without passing exams in Russian language, history or law. Option for Direct Permanent Residency (PRP): If the applicant proves basic proficiency in Russian language, he/she can also apply for Direct Permanent Residency Permit (PRP) by skipping the mandatory 8 months TRP tenure. No separate work permit required: Talent visa holders and their family members can directly start a job or business in any company in Russia without any additional work permit or patent. Entrepreneurs and Investors: Startup founders or investors who are planning to invest in new technology projects or setup their business in Russia. Graduates from Top Universities: Talented students holding degrees from prestigious universities ranked among the top 100 in the world or premier Indian institutes (e.g. IITs, NITs, IISc). Arts, Culture and Sports: Internationally or nationally awarded artists, designers, media professionals and sportspeople. Education and Healthcare: Highly qualified professors, expert doctors and biomedical scientists. Application Selection Process: The new agency will identify talent The application and evaluation process of this program has been made completely streamlined and transparent: Online Application: Applicants visit the official Impatriation Portal and submit their detailed Resume (CV), educational degrees, work experience certificates, patents or research publications. Scrutiny by a specialist agency: Russia's specialized agency 'Agency for Attracting Foreign Talents' conducts a preliminary technical assessment of the applicant's qualifications and his usefulness to the Russian economy. Online Interview: Preliminarily selected candidates have an online video interview with the agency, in which their achievements and plans are discussed. Immigration and visa issuance: After a positive recommendation from the agency, the application is sent to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, from where the official visa and related documents are issued.
