S. Jaishankar met President Putin in Moscow, gave a special message to Modi India and abroad

Moscow, 24 August 2026: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had an important meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday. During this meeting, Foreign Minister Vladimir Putin handed over a special message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jaishankar started the conversation by saying, “I would like to start my talk by wishing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has given me a personal message to convey to you, which I want to hand over to you.”

The Foreign Minister said that the meeting of the Inter-Governmental Commission between the two countries has been successful and the economic cooperation between India and Russia is progressing very fast. He had added that our partnership is continuously strengthening in trade, energy, fertilizer, nuclear and other sectors. Talking about the upcoming high-level visits, Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Modi is looking forward to meeting Putin at the SCO summit and then welcoming him to India for the BRICS summit. Thereafter, an annual summit will also be organized at a convenient time.

Meeting with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia

Foreign Minister S., who arrived on a two-day official visit to Russia. Jaishankar co-chaired the 27th session of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) in Moscow. He had detailed discussions with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov on further expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Jaishankar had said that even amidst complex international situations, the India-Russia partnership has provided an excellent example of continued strength and mutual trust.
