Salman Khan’s neighbor reprimanded by the court, the actor had filed a defamation case
The long-running legal dispute between Bollywood’s ‘Dabangg’ i.e. superstar Salman Khan and his Panvel farmhouse neighbor Ketan Kakkar has now reached a very sensitive and decisive point. Giving a big relief to Salman Khan in this matter, the Bombay High Court has issued a strict order to his neighbor Ketan Kakkar to immediately delete all the derogatory and controversial posts and videos uploaded against the actor from social media platforms. Making a very strong comment on the misuse of freedom of social media, the court made it clear that no person has the right to tarnish the image of celebrities or any other citizen. In this special investigative digital report by Entertainment Editor Surbhi Shukla, know how Salman’s neighbor’s arguments fell apart in the courtroom. No one is allowed to spread odor on social media, Justice Sharmila Deshmukh raised sharp questions from her neighbor. During the live hearing of the case in the High Court, Justice Sharmila Deshmukh expressed deep displeasure over the social media activity of Ketan Kakkar. Reprimanding Ketan Kakkar, the court asked in a very strong tone, ‘Why would a person directly upload such videos and defamatory content on social media instead of registering his complaints with the concerned legal and administrative authorities?’ The court said in clear words that the freedom to use social media cannot be interpreted to mean that any person crosses the limits of decorum and starts posting derogatory things against any celebrity or citizen. What is the real land dispute between Salman Khan and neighbor Ketan Kakkar, which took the form of a legal battle? The roots of this entire high-profile dispute are linked to Salman Khan’s famous Panvel Farmhouse located in Raigad district of Maharashtra. Ketan Kakkar is the owner of the land adjacent to Salman’s Arpita Farmhouse in Panvel. Ketan Kakkar had made very serious allegations against Salman Khan and claimed that the superstar had openly violated many rules and laws related to the environment while building his luxurious farmhouse. Along with this, Kakkar also alleged that Salman Khan has completely blocked the only road leading to his private property. The neighbor said that he had complained to the local administration and government officials in this regard, but when no action was taken due to Salman’s influence, he had to take the help of social media. After getting a setback from the civil court, Salman reached the High Court, accused of giving communal color to the video. After neighbor Ketan Kakkar continuously released videos on YouTube and other social media handles regarding the activities of Panvel Farmhouse, Salman Khan considered it an attack on his reputation. Salman Khan had filed a defamation case against Kakkar in the City Civil Court of Mumbai and demanded immediate deletion of all those videos and a ban on such statements in future. However, when the civil court refused to give any such interim order, Salman Khan without wasting any time approached the Bombay High Court. In his main petition filed in the High Court, Salman Khan gave a very shocking argument and said that the posts uploaded by Ketan Kakkar are not only completely false and defamatory, but they are also creating a communally provocative environment against him in the society. High Court postponed the next hearing till July 6, till then the derogatory content will have to be cleaned from the internet. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, Bombay High Court has completely considered Salman Khan’s side as strong. As an interim relief, the court has ordered Ketan Kakkar to delete the objectionable videos and claims posted against Salman Khan from all his social media IDs with immediate effect. Considering the seriousness of this sensitive matter, the court has fixed July 6 for detailed investigation and next hearing. Legal experts believe that after this strict stance of the High Court, now trolls and opponents who make unbridled videos against any celebrity on social media will be curbed.
