The phones were manufactured in the two northern facilities at Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen, Roh Tae Moon, CEO of Samsung Electronics, said at a meeting with Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on Thursday.
The South Korean behemoth is one of the largest foreign investors in Vietnam with $24 billion as of the end of last year.
Roh said the Galaxy Fold 8, launched in early August, has received a positive response in global markets.
Hung said the country has become an important manufacturing hub in Samsung’s global value chain, but wanted the company to transform Vietnam from a “manufacturing hub” into a “technology, research and development, and innovation hub.”

Vietnam is shifting its approach to attracting foreign investment, prioritizing high-tech projects with high added value and the potential to create linkages with and generate spillover effects for domestic businesses, he said.
Vietnam wants to expand cooperation with South Korea in areas like semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, research and development, innovation, and digital transformation, he said.
He called on Samsung to expand its factories and production capacity while increasing R&D investment, cooperating with research institutes and universities, and training engineers and other specialists.
He also urged the company to develop more Vietnamese suppliers and help them meet the standards needed to enter its production chains in Vietnam, South Korea, and other international markets.
Roh said Samsung does not view Vietnam merely as a manufacturing hub but as a strategic partner in research and high-tech development.
The company plans to increase R&D investment and support high-tech workforce training in Vietnam, the Samsung R&D Center in Hanoi will also expand cooperation with universities, add resources for workforce training, and strengthen technological capabilities, he promised.
