Sania Mirza breaks silence over viral mosque land donation claims

Sania Mirza has finally broken her silence over a viral AI-generated image with claims of a land donation for the construction of a mosque.

A picture of the 39-year-old tennis star has been circulating on social media, in which she was seen with former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, with claims of donating land in Hyderabad for a mosque construction.

However, Imran Mirza, father of the tennis legend, has denied reports that the six-time Grand Slam winner had donated her site for this purpose, and the widely shared image is also fake.

In a detailed statement shared on social media, he said, “There is distorted fake news about Sania Mirza that has been doing the rounds on social media for the last few days, and I’d like to clarify.”

Talking about the fake image, he said, “The picture of Mr. Azharuddin and Sania that has gone viral is AI-generated.”

Addressing the land donation speculation, he wrote, “While Sania has every right to use any land bought by her or her family in any manner that she may deem fit, I wish to state that there is no masjid that is being built on the land where Sania Mirza Tennis Academy has been constructed.”

He further wrote, “Any social or philanthropic work that Sania does now or in future, or which she has done in the past, is and will remain her private and personal matter. Nobody has the right to publicize it, particularly if Sania has not verified it herself.”

Later, the tennis star also shared that statement on her Instagram Stories.
