Amid the family’s grief, a video shared by several paparazzi pages on social media sparked discussion after it allegedly showed Sanjay Gupta’s daughter losing her cool at photographers.

Reportedly, she was seated in the front passenger seat of a car when she was seen reacting to the paparazzi. A video uploaded by Buzzzooka Scrolls, with the caption, “Why Did Sanjay Gupta’s Daughter Lose Her Cool With the Paps?”, showed a person sitting inside the car with her face partially covered by a hoodie. The video drew several comments from social media users, with some questioning her reaction and mistaking it for a lack of sensitivity amid the family’s loss.

A third called the incident “very unfortunate.”

Days after the video went viral, Sanjay Gupta’s wife, Anuradha Lekhi Gupta, issued a statement addressing the incident. She explained that their children had grown up away from the limelight and were deeply distressed by the sudden intrusion into their privacy during an extremely difficult time.

In a statement shared through filmmaker Milap Zaveri, Anuradha wrote, “In their grief and anguish, some of their reactions may have been directed towards certain members of the media. I sincerely regret any hurt this may have caused. I humbly request everyone to understand these reactions for what they truly are – the expressions of grieving children struggling to come to terms with an irreparable loss.”

She further urged the media and the public to excuse her children’s reactions, emphasising that they were struggling to cope with the loss of their father. Anuradha also appealed to people to delete content that could leave lasting emotional scars on her children and requested that they be given the privacy, compassion and space they need to grieve.
