Team India practiced vigorously in Colombo on Monday, and Sarfaraz Khan was the center of attention during the session. Sarfaraz Khan arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday and boarded the team bus directly to the Colombo stadium on Monday. What followed was enough to impress the Indian coaching staff. Sarfaraz Khan batted on a solid wicket and faced three spinners: Harsh Dubey, Tanush Kotian, and Shivang Kumar.
Amazing batting by Sarfaraz
Sarfaraz Khan faced all three spinners with steadfast confidence on the spin-friendly Colombo pitch. None of them could trouble him. Sarfaraz looked in excellent form during the net session. Sarfaraz also bats well against spin bowling in domestic cricket. His footwork and strong defense against spinners set him apart from other Indian batsmen.
What else did Sarfaraz do?
Upon arriving at the Colombo ground, Sarfaraz performed stretching and warm-up exercises, followed by running. After this, he had a separate session with fielding coach Shubhdeep Ghosh. Ghosh had him practice catching on a close wicket, which lasted 15 minutes. This meant Sarfaraz was seen practicing fielding at silly point or short leg. This entire development indicates that Sarfaraz will be playing in the Galle Test. It is being said that he may be given a chance at number 6. Dhruv Jurel was originally supposed to bat at this position, but given his weakness against off-spinners, Team India is not taking any risks.
Sweep practice
Sarfaraz impressed everyone during practice, while other top-order batsmen also practiced hard. Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to sharpen their game against spinners. All of them used sweep and reverse sweep shots. These shots will be useful in the Galle Test.
