India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty clinched the men's doubles title at the China Masters, a BWF Super 750 tournament, on Sunday to claim their 10th career BWF World Tour title.
The world no. 5 Indian pair overcame their Chinese opponents 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in a 70-minute final to finally lift the China Masters trophy after finishing runners-up in 2023 and 2025 and reaching the semifinals in 2024.
The victory also made Satwik and Chirag the first Indian men's doubles pair to win the China Masters since the tournament's inception in 2005.
The reigning Asian Games champions had missed out on a third BWF World Championships medal after exiting in the quarterfinals in New Delhi last month. They bounced back strongly in Shenzhen to secure their second Super 750 title of the year and fourth overall.
The China Masters final was their third BWF World Tour final of 2026. They finished runners-up at the Thailand Open in May before winning the Singapore Open later that month.
The Indians endured a difficult start as the Chinese pair raced to a 5-0 lead and maintained control to take an 11-5 advantage at the interval. Satwik and Chirag struggled to close the gap as their opponents claimed the opening game 21-11 in 18 minutes.
The second game saw the Indians respond decisively. After China took an early 2-0 lead, Satwik and Chirag leveled at 3-3 and 6-6 before moving ahead 11-7 at the break. Their powerful smashes helped them build a 17-11 advantage, and they held off a late challenge to win 21-13 and force a decider.
China again started strongly in the third game, opening up a 4-0 lead. Satwik and Chirag fought back to level at 7-7 and moved ahead before taking an 11-9 lead at the interval.
The Indian pair maintained their composure in the closing stages, producing a decisive run of points to seal the decider 21-17 and complete another major title-winning performance.
