A major accident was averted on Friday in the district’s Koyalkhunt village panchayat. A school bus carrying children from Savita Saraswati Public School lost control and veered off course on a slippery, unpaved road. The accident sparked panic among the children on board, who feared the bus was about to overturn.
Upon learning of the incident, villagers rushed to the scene and, without delay, safely pulled all the children out one by one through the bus windows and driver’s door. The promptness of the locals averted a potential major tragedy. According to eyewitnesses, the bus lost balance after getting stuck on the unpaved road and veered off course. Fortunately, no children were reported seriously injured.
Following the incident, questions have been raised about the safety of school buses and the poor condition of rural roads in the area. Locals have demanded road repairs and regular inspections of school vehicles to ensure the safety of children.
