New Delhi. In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces achieved a major success by killing Lashkar commander Hashim Musa alias Fauji. After a search of three years, he was found dead in the forests of Kokarnag in Budgam. His body was found during a search in Palmedan area on Wednesday morning.

Pakistani terrorist Musa DKG was also the mastermind of the gruesome massacre that took place in Shahsitar and Pahalgam in April 2025. Musa was identified not just as an ordinary terrorist, but as a highly trained foreign terrorist and Lashkar commander. According to security agencies, he had received commando training from Pakistan's Special Services Group (SSG). Because of his military training he was able to operate in mountainous areas for long periods of time while avoiding security forces.
December 2023: First major attack in DKG
Musa's name was first linked to major terrorist attacks after the Dera Ki Gali (DKG) attack on 21 December 2023. In this area of Poonch-Rajouri, terrorists ambushed army vehicles. In this attack, 5 army soldiers were martyred and 2 were badly injured. DKG and the surrounding dense forests thereafter became an important hideout zone for foreign terrorists.
According to security agencies, Musa also remained active in the same area and kept using forests and hilly areas to escape from the security forces. Sometimes Musa hid in the Pir Panchal hills i.e. Pir ki Gali area through the forest and sometimes he used to hide in the Soapies of South Kashmir through the forest itself so that he could save his life from the security personnel.

4 May 2024: Attack on IAF convoy in Shahsitar
After this, Musa's name was also linked to the attack on the Indian Air Force convoy in Shahsitar area of Poonch on 4 May 2024. The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire targeting the IAF vehicles. One IAF soldier was martyred and four were injured in the attack. That is, from DKG to Shahsitaar, this terrorist network operating in the forests continuously targeted the security forces.
Identity revealed in Pahalgam terrorist attack
However, the real identity and picture of Hashim Musa came to light for the first time after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. A group of four terrorists was seen in a picture and Hashim Musa was present on the right side of that picture. After this, the security agencies intensified the search for this terrorist. At the same time, the terrorists kept changing their hideouts to escape from the security forces.
He had made those hilly forests and inaccessible areas his refuge. But security agencies were also constantly after him. Ultimately, during 'Operation Karag', the security forces got a big success and this dangerous terrorist, who was being searched for a long time, was caught by the security forces. Musa, who was on the radar of security agencies for a long time, was finally eliminated.
