Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted two alleged cross-border drug and illegal arms supply networks with the arrest of seven people and recovery of 10 pistols, 1.054 kg of heroin, five live cartridges and a drone, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Monday.
The arrests were made as part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing drive to curb drugs and illegal weapons in the state. According to the DGP, preliminary investigation has indicated that the accused were allegedly in contact with foreign-based smugglers who facilitated the movement of illegal arms and heroin across the International Border.
The arrested accused have been identified as Kuldeep Singh alias Bhullar, 28, originally from Rajoke village in Tarn Taran and currently residing at Gumtala in Amritsar; Husanpreet Singh, 21, of Mehdipur village and currently residing at Dhollan village in Tarn Taran; Ahmed Raja, 21, of Sultanwind Road, Amritsar; Jagseer Singh alias Bobby, 26, of Mohalla Takshatri, Tarn Taran; Navideep Singh, 20, of Attari; Anmoldeep Singh, 19, of Rorawali; and Manjinder Singh alias Manga, 37, of Fatahpur, Amritsar.
The recovered weapons include a .30-bore Zigana pistol made in Türkiye, a 9mm Glock made in Austria, a 9mm PX5, two .30-bore pistols made in China, two .30-bore Star Mark pistols, another .30-bore pistol, a Glock 9mm and a .30-bore PX3.
DGP Yadav said the investigation was continuing to establish the complete forward and backward linkages, identify other individuals connected with the alleged foreign-based handlers and uncover the wider cross-border network.
Arms Supply Network
Amritsar Commissioner of Police Harmanbir Singh Gill said the first operation was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs, leading to the arrest of Kuldeep Singh alias Bhullar and Husanpreet Singh. Two pistols and two live cartridges were recovered from them.
Further questioning allegedly led police to their associates. Ahmed Raja and Jagseer Singh alias Bobby were subsequently arrested, resulting in the recovery of five additional pistols and three live cartridges.
According to the CP, the weapons were allegedly intended for use against a rival gang member in connection with an old rivalry. Police also found that Ahmed Raja had previously been booked in cases relating to murder, the Arms Act and theft.
Heroin and Drone Recovered
In a separate operation, police arrested Navideep Singh and Anmoldeep Singh and recovered 1.054 kg of heroin, CP Gill said.
Further investigation and questioning led to the recovery of three sophisticated pistols and a drone allegedly used for sorties across the border. Manjinder Singh alias Manga was subsequently arrested in connection with the case.
Two separate FIRs have been registered in Amritsar. FIR No. 142, dated August 3, 2026, was registered under Sections 25(6), 25(7) and 25(8) of the Arms Act at Cantonment police station.
The second case, FIR No. 134 dated August 5, 2026, was registered under Sections 21-B, 21-C and 29 of the NDPS Act, Section 25(8) of the Arms Act and Sections 10, 11 and 12 of the Aircraft Act at D-Division police station.
The police said further investigation is underway into the alleged cross-border supply chain and its wider network.
