Seven people including two police officers killed in road accident in Britain

London, 23 August 2026: Seven people, including two police officers, were killed in a car accident in Britain. The accident occurred when a vehicle coming from the wrong direction collided with a police car on the main road.

Police said a car carrying five people was traveling in the wrong direction on the A66 highway near Middlesborough and collided head-on with an oncoming police vehicle. After the collision that took place in the morning, all seven persons were declared dead at the spot.

Police are still trying to officially identify some of them. The families of those who have been identified have been informed and special assistance is being provided to them.

Local MP Anna Turley said that Cleveland Police are investigating the incident in collaboration with the 'Independent Office for Police Conduct'. At this very sad time, it is important to respect that process and avoid speculation.
