Severe storm in Haryana, 3 trucks overturned on the road; Bad weather in Chandigarh
The weather suddenly took a turn in Haryana on Thursday. People who were troubled by the scorching sun and heat throughout the day, got relief in the evening, but at many places this relief also turned into a disaster. Fatehabad, Mahendragarh, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Sirsa and surrounding areas received rain with strong winds. At the same time, rain started in Chandigarh and Panchkula also late in the evening. Amidst this heavy rain and strong winds, three trucks overturned on 152D National Highway in Ambala. The good thing is that no casualties have been reported so far.
Due to heavy rain for about an hour in Jakhal area of Fatehabad, many roads were flooded with water up to 2 feet. Due to the strong storm, traffic and power supply was affected in many areas due to falling of trees and electric poles. Due to falling of trees on the Jakhal-Kulan main road, vehicular movement came to a standstill for about an hour and a passenger bus also got stuck on the way.

Thunderstorm alert received on mobile
In the alert issued at 8:15 pm, the Meteorological Department expressed the possibility of strong winds, dust storm and rain during the next three hours in 16 districts of the state. Alert issued for moderate to heavy rain in many districts including Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Yamunanagar, Ambala and Panchkula. People were also advised to remain alert.
According to Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, the weather has taken a sudden turn due to the cyclonic system over Punjab and the western disturbance moving towards the mountains. Its effect will be seen throughout Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Delhi. The weather may remain like this for the next three days. During this period, there is a possibility of rain with thunder at many places.

Alert in 12 districts of UP also
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh at 8:52 pm. According to the department, during the next 3 hours the weather may suddenly deteriorate in some areas of Agra, Aligarh, Baghpat, Bijnor, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Hathras, Mathura, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur and Shamli.
There is a possibility of strong storm with a speed of 70 to 90 kilometers per hour in these districts. At some places, wind gusts can reach a speed of 100 kilometers per hour or even more. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of lightening, thunder and lightning along with moderate to heavy rain and hailstorm.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to stay at home or in safe places during bad weather. Also, it has been advised to avoid going near open fields, trees and electric poles.
