Actor Shabana Azmi has officially become part of the cast of Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani-starrer Awarapan 2.
Producer Vishesh Bhatt revealed that the 75-year-old actress will be seen playing Nafisa, a negative character in the upcoming film.
Writer Bilal Siddiqui had initially imagined the role as a calm but influential figure operating within the criminal underworld.
The character was designed to make an unexpected entry into the story and significantly impact Shivam, the character played by Emraan Hashmi.
The makers were still figuring out how the role should be portrayed on screen, hence Vishesh Bhatt reshaped the part by introducing a female character into Shivam’s world, which brought a different dimension to the story.
Interestingly, the Sparsh actor came on board the project on her birthday, September 18, 2025.
The makers believe her addition helped give the character a stronger identity within the film.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 is written by Bilal Siddiqui and produced by Vishesh Bhatt.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on August 14, 2026. The makers have not yet revealed details about Disha Patani’s character or how she fits into Shivam’s story.
The original Awarapan released in 2007 and starred Emraan Hashmi alongside Shriya Saran, Ashutosh Rana and Mrinalini Sharma in important roles.
