Mumbai: Actor Shalini Pandey Monday said a said a fake, AI-generated video of hers was circulating online and fans should not “share, forward or engage” with it.
Pandey is the latest celebrity to fall prey to deepfake videos after Mrunal Thakur and others.
The Arjun Reddy star said such misuse of technology should not be normalised.
“I want to address a fake, Al-generated video of me that is currently being circulated online. The video is completely fabricated and does not depict me. It is deeply disturbing to see technology being misused in this way to target and harm individuals, especially women. I strongly condemn this kind of abuse and believe such misuse of technology should never be normalised,” Pandey said in a note on Instagram.
The actor urged her fans and followers to report the video if they encounter it and not spread it further.
“I request everyone to be responsible and mindful, and help stop its circulation rather than giving it further reach,” she added.
Earlier this month, Thakur had warned those generating such content in her likeness of legal action.
Actors including Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, among others, have been the victims of the deepfake content.
