The Sensex started with a strong opening at 79,132.97, which later reached 79,143.15. However, due to heavy selling, it fell close to its day’s low of 78,744.34. Despite this, the Sensex managed to maintain its gains and is trading in the green.
Realty and IT sector stocks fall
Realty and IT sector stocks led the selling pressure in the market in early trade. Nifty Realty and Nifty IT were the top losers among the indices, falling by around one percent. Nifty FMCG, Nifty Consumer Durables, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Oil & Gas, Nifty Healthcare, Nifty Auto, Nifty Infra, and Nifty PSE were also in the red. Only Nifty Metal and Nifty Energy were trading in the green.
On the other hand, midcap and smallcap stocks were trading with gains. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was down 87 points, or 0.23 percent, at 63,535, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was up 92 points, or 0.48 percent, at 19,684.

The economic growth momentum is strong, as evidenced by robust credit growth, continued growth in auto sales, and improved GST collections. From a market perspective, a key positive is the return of foreign investors to the Indian market.
