The Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 is set to commence following the completion of squad selections for all six franchises at the recent auction. Fazilka Falcons, Amritsar Soormas, Bathinda Royals, Jalandhar Warriors, Ludhiana Lions and Mohali Kings will compete for the championship title.
Each franchise had a budget of Rs 45 lakh for the auction, with six marquee players signed for Rs 10 lakh each. Indian captain Shubman Gill joins Fazilka Falcons, while opener Abhishek Sharma will represent his hometown team, Amritsar Soormas. Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh will play for Ludhiana Lions, and wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh will be part of Jalandhar Warriors. All-rounder Ramandeep Singh will feature for Mohali Kings, and pacer Gurnoor Brar for Bathinda Royals.
Franchises were required to assemble squads of between 16 and 20 players. Among the highest bids, all-rounder Sanvir Singh was the most expensive purchase, acquired by Fazilka Falcons for Rs 13.20 lakh. Amritsar Soormas secured Naman Dhir for Rs 10.80 lakh, and Mohali Kings acquired Amolpreet Singh for Rs 8.20 lakh. Bathinda Royals signed Harnoor Singh and Ashwani Kumar for Rs 7 lakh each, while Jalandhar Warriors picked Sukhdeep Bajwa for Rs 6 lakh.
The auction demonstrated the depth of cricketing talent in Punjab, with franchises blending experienced players and emerging youngsters. This offers younger players the chance to gain valuable experience alongside established Indian cricketers.
Amarjit Singh Mehta, President of the Punjab Cricket Association, stated: “We have worked tirelessly with the Punjab Chief Minister to turn this vision into reality, and we are delighted to see it taking shape. The PCA Stadium in Mohali is a special venue, and every cricketer dreams of playing here. Through this league, we want to give players from every part of Punjab the opportunity to step onto this iconic ground, gain valuable experience and showcase their talent on a bigger stage. We believe this will be an important step in strengthening the cricketing pathway in Punjab and creating more opportunities for our young players.”
With well-balanced squads and several of Punjab’s leading cricketers participating, the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League is expected to offer an exciting season and a strong platform for the state’s next generation of players.
