New Delhi .Actor Ranbir Kapoor will be seen playing the role of Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari's film Ramayana. Ramanand Sagar's grandson Shiv Sagar has given his reaction regarding his role and casting. He liked the casting of the film except for Ranbir Kapoor, but expressed his personal disagreement in accepting the actor as Lord Ram. According to Shiv Sagar, after seeing Ranbir in a different character in a film like Animal, it is difficult to accept him as Ram.
Shiv Sagar said that a new face should have been chosen for Ramayana instead of Ranbir Kapoor. He says that when he thinks of Lord Ram, the thought of such an artist comes to his mind, who has no previous image in the mind of the audience. According to him, there is an image associated with Ranbir from the characters he has played earlier, due to which it is not comfortable for him to see him in this role.
He also praised the other actors of the film. Shiv Sagar said that a strong supporting cast can be included and Yash is looking good to him. He also praised Sai Pallavi and said that she does not have any problem of old image or baggage. According to Shiv Sagar, this is the reason why new faces are usually given priority in the serials made by his family, so that the actors are not burdened with their old characters or history.
However, Shiv Sagar clarified that he personally has no problem with Ranbir Kapoor. He described the actor as a very good artiste. He says that Ranbir has been seen in different types of roles and he is a good actor. Therefore, their objection is not about Ranbir's acting ability, but about his selection for a character like Lord Ram.
Shiv Sagar also said that it is possible that there were marketing considerations behind choosing Ranbir Kapoor for this project. According to him, Ranbir's involvement could benefit the film at the marketing level. If Ranbir had not been cast in the film, perhaps it would not have been marketed as effectively. Despite this, Shiv Sagar's personal opinion is that giving a chance to a new face for such characters would have been a better option.
Talking about the emotional aspect related to Ram and Ramayana, Shiv Sagar said that this topic is very sensitive for the people. According to him, the question is also that after Ramayana, how will the audience accept Ranbir again in a film like Animal. He said that in India, Ram is not seen only as a mythology. People worship him every day and consider Ram a part of their history. For this reason, people's feelings about the characters related to Ramayana are deeper.
Despite expressing his opinion, Shiv Sagar admitted that the final decision regarding the film will be in the hands of the public. Meanwhile, the construction work of Ram temple in Karjat, Maharashtra has also been completed. With this, the wish of the Sagar family that had been going on for three generations was fulfilled. This temple was dreamed of by Ramanand Sagar, his son Prem Sagar took it forward and also brought the idol of Lord Ram from Rajasthan. After the demise of Prem Sagar last year, his son and producer-director Shiv Sagar completed the construction of the temple in Karjat.
