The J&K Unit of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) here today staged a protest demonstration against the Election Commission and torched its effigy.
The protesters were demanding immediate removal of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Gyanesh Kumar and an independent judicial probe into the large-scale changes in electoral rolls.
The protest was led by Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni and the protesters were raising slogans in favour of their demands.
The protesters were wearing black bands over their mouths.
While addressing the protesters, Sahni said that from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, public anger against the functioning of the Election Commission is growing, with people taking to the streets.
He said that along with the public and Opposition, Election Commission officials and even the High Court have raised questions over Form 6, with the Court seeking records from the Election Commission.
The Shiv Sena leader demanded that the electoral rolls existing prior to 2025 should be restored.
