Shraddha Walker Murder Case: Aftab appearing for MA exam in Tihar Jail, hearing postponed to July 20
Saket Court has postponed the hearing scheduled on July 20, giving a big relief to Aftab Amin Poonawala, accused in the much talked about Shraddha Walker murder case. The court accepted the plea of the accused seeking exemption from personal appearance in the court due to the final examination of MA Sociology.
Exemption from appearance due to examination
Additional Sessions Judge Hargurvarinder Singh Jaggi, in his July 8 order, said the accused has told the court that the final paper of MA Sociology conducted by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is scheduled on July 20 from 2 pm to 5 pm. This examination will be conducted at the examination center set up in Central Jail No. 3 of Tihar Jail, where Aftab is currently lodged as an under-trial prisoner.
Court canceled the proceedings of July 20
After considering the arguments of the accused, the court canceled the daily proceedings scheduled for July 20. The court clarified that in view of the examination of the accused, his personal presence would not be necessary on that day.
The court has directed that the prosecution evidence will now be recorded from 2 pm on July 21. However, the court also clarified that the hearing in the case on other previously scheduled dates will continue as per the pre-determined schedule.

The Shraddha Walker murder case is one of the most discussed criminal cases in the country. It is alleged that in May 2022, Aftab Poonawala murdered his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, cut her body into several pieces and threw them at different places. The hearing of this case is going on in Saket Court of Delhi and the prosecution is presenting its evidence before the court.
