The month of Shravan is considered special for the devotion of Lord Shiva. During this holy month, many devotees offer their favorite offerings to Mahadev by performing fasting, worship and abhishekam on Mondays. Homemade Sajuk Tupatla Shira is an easy and delicious option for offering. This shira can be prepared from simple ingredients like semolina, sajuk ghee, sugar and cardamom. The aroma of ghee and the taste of cardamom open up the taste of shirri. This is to be offered as a sacrifice to Mahadev after the Shiva Puja in Shravan Recipe would be a good option.

Materials:

  • 1 cup fine semolina
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3-4 teaspoons of Sajuk ghee
  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 2-3 cardamom powder
  • Few cashew nuts (optional)
  • A pinch of saffron (optional)
  • dried fruit

Action:

  • Heat ghee in a pan and add semolina to it.
  • Roast semolina well on low flame till golden color.
  • Heat water in another vessel and carefully add it to the roasted semolina.
  • Stir continuously until the semolina is cooked, so that lumps do not form.
  • When semolina becomes soft, add sugar and mix well.
  • When the veins start to thicken, add cardamom powder and saffron.
  • Fry the dry fruits in light oil and cut them into fine pieces.
  • Now add these pieces of dry fruits to the vein and mix well.
  • Cook till the ghee is released. Turn off the heat and serve in a bowl.
