More orders to Instagram
Although monthly details are not available, a large share of blocking orders were issued during the protests, particularly on Instagram. Rapidly growing numbers
According to RTI records, a total of 2,312 blocking orders were sent to 19 online platforms through the collaboration portal between October 2024 and October 2025. This means an average of six orders were shipped per day. According to the Home Ministry's 2024-25 annual report, more than 111,000 'suspicious online content' were blocked under Section 79(3) (b) of the Information Technology (IT) Act in the year to March 2025.
More than 60 crore social media users
