Team India trounced Pakistan in a one-sided contest of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Women in Green were bowled out for a mere 55 runs as the Indian spinners ran riot with the ball.
Shree Charani, who was named Player of the Match, ended up with 3/7 from her four overs, while Deepti Sharma and Prema Rawat picked five wickets between them for just 14 runs from 7.1 overs.
Speaking to the media at the end of the game, Charani revealed that the three spinners always hang out together, and that has helped her immensely. The 21-year-old was heard saying, “Prema is superb. She is a natural talent. She does everything well. In the meeting, the three of us sit together, and Radha Yadav as well. We discuss our strategies for the game and try to implement them.”
World number one WT20I bowler got rolling when she got the wicket of top-scorer Shawaal Zulfiqar for 14 runs. The left-arm spinner then got rid of Gull Feroza for a duck and Ayesha Zafar for two runs.
When asked about the wickets and how she prepared for it, the youngster said: “I just tried to bowl the stumps line, and after looking at the wicket, we knew it could turn a lot, and that was my focus.”
Deepti has picked up eight wickets in the tournament so far,and on Saturday she got the key scalp of Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana for a duck. Sharma also got the last wicket when Richa Ghosh stumped Tuba Hassan for nine runs.
Opening batter Shafali Verma also rolled her arm over to bowl three overs for ten runs. The 22-year-old gave India the much-needed breakthrough when she castled opening batter Muneeba Ali for 13 runs. The openers had added 27 runs for the first wicket before Indian spinners dominated the game and got the last nine wickets for just 28 runs.
Harmanpreet Kaur wants team to continue the good work
India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was leading the side for the 150th time, and she made the occasion special by hitting the winning runs. Speaking at the end of the game, the37-year-old said, “It was a key game for us, and I am very happy with the win. I am happy for the team with the way everyone performed. All the bowlers were outstanding and stuck to their plans and read the pitch well, which was the key.”
She also cautioned her side and asked the players to maintain the standards. “It is very important to keep our standards high on the field. I know what this team can bring to the field, and I am happy with how everyone has done so far. Now, two more games are left, and I hope we keep playing our best cricket.”
