Sinner beats Zverev to retain Wimbledon crown – Tezzbuzz
London, July 13:
World No.1 Jannik Sinner staged a strong comeback to defeat Alexander Zverev 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 in the Wimbledon 2026 men’s singles final, successfully defending his title on Centre Court.
After losing a tightly contested opening set in a tie-break, Sinner steadied himself in the second, winning another tie-break convincingly to level the match. The turning point came in the third set when Zverev slipped and hurt his knee during a crucial rally, after which his level dipped.
Sensing the shift, Sinner raised his intensity, securing the first break of the match and taking control. He carried the momentum into the fourth set, breaking at a key moment before calmly serving out the match.
The victory marks Sinner’s fifth Grand Slam title and his 100th match win at majors. It also extends his remarkable dominance over Zverev, with 10 consecutive wins against the German.
