Six Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in Kerala arrested, working at a scrap shop
Police is investigating how the accused reached Kerala and who made the arrangements for their travel.
Kochi. Kerala Police has arrested six Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in Eroor area. According to officials, based on information received from intelligence agencies, police on Thursday raided a scrap shop on Kuttippadam Road in Eroor.
During the investigation, the police examined the identity cards and other documents of the employees working in the shop, which were allegedly found to be fake. Those arrested have been identified as Rakiv Shaba, Mohammad Sohail Faraz, Tariq, Sogir, Madhi Hajida and Mohammad Agin.
According to the police, during interrogation the accused admitted that they were residents of Bangladesh and were working in Kochi for the last few months. He was then taken to Hill Palace police station, where intelligence agencies interrogated him extensively. Officials said that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the Immigration and Foreign Nationals Act.
Police are conducting a detailed investigation into how the accused reached Kerala and who made the arrangements for their travel. Officials said that all the arrested accused will be presented in the court.
