Can domestic gas cylinders become more expensive?
There remains concern regarding LPG prices in the coming times. India imports about 90 percent of its LPG requirement through the Strait of Hormuz. Due to recent international tensions and war-like situations, the possibility of supply being affected has increased. Although India has tried to increase domestic LPG production, experts believe that if global supply is affected, domestic gas cylinder prices may be affected in the future.
Government’s strictness in LPG rules
The government has made the rules related to LPG distribution more stringent. Now from May 1, gas cylinders will not be delivered without OTP verification. Apart from this, a new cylinder cannot be booked before 45 days in rural areas and 25 days in urban areas. However, it is a matter of relief for the consumers that door-to-door delivery of gas cylinders has once again started in the villages. Home delivery was affected at many places in late March and early April, but now the situation seems to be normalizing.
