The weather patterns in Bihar have completely changed. At some places, heavy rains are giving relief to people after the sultry heat, while at other places even years old trees are being uprooted due to sudden strong storms. According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department, tomorrow i.e. on August 17, there will be cloud cover in many parts of the state and this severe weather trend is going to continue.
In fact, on August 17, there are full chances of rain with thunderstorms at most places in the southern districts of the state and in some areas of the northern part. Meteorologists have issued a warning saying that in the districts of North-West and South-West Bihar, there can be strong gusty winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour accompanied by lightning.
Heavy rain warning in Bhabua, Gaya, Jamui and Nawada
Special vigilance has been advised in four major districts of the state—Bhabhua (Kaimur), Gaya, Jamui and Nawada. There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in these districts. During the last 24 hours also, light to moderate rain has been recorded at one or two places in most parts of the state. Intermittent rains have made the weather humid in areas like Madhubani, Sikta, Pachteuri, Rajpur, Kataiya, Kasba, Guthni, Paharpur, Mairwa, Purnia, Baltara and Maharajganj.
Low pressure area formed in Bay of Bengal, trough line active
Actually, the strong weather system forming in the Bay of Bengal is responsible for this seasonal change. Till the morning of 16 August, a low pressure area remained active over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-North Odisha coasts. The cyclonic circulation associated with it extends up to a height of 7.6 km above sea level, inclined towards the south-west. It is estimated that this system will move in the north-west direction and may become more intense in the next 24 hours.
Moreover, the monsoon trough at sea level is currently passing through this low pressure center through Amritsar, Ludhiana, Moradabad, Lucknow, Varanasi and extending up to east-central Bay of Bengal. At the same time, an upper air cyclonic circulation is also present in south-eastern Uttar Pradesh and surrounding areas about 3.1 kilometers above sea level.
No major change in temperature expected
The Meteorological Department has made it clear that no significant change will be seen in the maximum temperatures in most parts of the state during the next 24 hours. Similarly, there is no possibility of any major fluctuation in the minimum temperature during the coming 5 days. However, in view of strong winds and possible thunderstorms, people have been advised to avoid open fields and under trees during inclement weather.
