According to figures released by the Korea Tourism Organization on Aug. 25, foreign arrivals in the first seven months of the year numbered 12.8 million, up 21.3% from the same period last year.
Mainland China was the largest source of visitors with 776,639 tourists in July (up 29% from last year) and nearly 3.99 million for the year (up 27.5%).
Japanese were the second largest group with 330,385 visitors.
Taiwan showed the fastest growth among major markets with 260,532 travelers, up 30.7% from last year.
The U.S. accounted for 150,000 visitors and Hong Kong for 76,000.
