In fact, SP leader Azam Khan had challenged his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a new money laundering case soon after his release from jail. The court had taken cognizance of the appeal by Azam Khan's lawyer Nizam Pasha for immediate listing of the case and said that the petition would be listed for hearing this week. SP leader's lawyer Nizam Pasha had mentioned the petition of former minister Azam Khan before the Supreme Court.
The petition filed by Azam Khan in the Supreme Court challenged his arrest by the ED just “40 minutes” after his release from jail on October 29 in the ‘dual PAN card’ case. He had also sought quashing of the special court's order of November 1, under which he was sent to judicial custody. Besides, he had also appealed for release from custody for the time being. However, they do not seem to be getting any relief from the Top Court.
