Special ceremony of honor at Delhi Police Headquarters
New Delhi, . 179 retiring Delhi Police personnel were awarded the next higher honorary post under the Honorary Promotion Scheme in a dignified piping ceremony held on Tuesday at Adarsh Auditorium, PHQ, Delhi Police Headquarters. In the ceremony, senior officers honored the policemen for their long and excellent service by giving them pips, the insignia of their new posts. The ceremony was presided over by Special Commissioner of Police Personnel and Finance Rajesh Khurana, IPS.
While honoring the retiring policemen along with senior officers, he appreciated their exemplary contribution. In his address, Rajesh Khurana said that the officers and employees of Delhi Police have served the public with dedication, loyalty and devotion to duty throughout their service period. By maintaining law and order, investigating crimes and discharging other important responsibilities, he has taken the reputation of the department to new heights. He said that police service is not just a job but a responsibility of public service in which officers and employees spend more time with their colleagues than with their families.
Working together in difficult situations develops deep trust, cooperation and intimacy between them. Due to this feeling, “Delhi Police Family” is not just an address, but a living symbol of mutual brotherhood and solidarity. The Special Commissioner of Police, while wishing a healthy, happy and prosperous life to all the retired policemen, said that Delhi Police will stand with them for all possible support whenever needed in future also.
A total of 179 policemen were given honorary promotions at the ceremony. Of these, 11 head constables were promoted to the post of Honorary Assistant Sub-Inspector, 48 Assistant Sub-Inspectors were promoted to the post of Honorary Sub-Inspector and 120 Sub-Inspectors were promoted to the post of Honorary Inspector.
On this occasion, senior officers of Delhi Police, retired policemen and their families were present in large numbers. Filled with respect, pride and emotions, this ceremony became memorable for everyone.
