Speed havoc in Ramnagar, Jammu and Kashmir: Bus going to Udhampur meets with accident, 14 people killed
Srinagar, 20 April. 14 people died and many others were injured when a bus overturned in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday. Union Minister Jitendra Singh posted on social media platform X and wrote that just now, he spoke to Udhampur DC Shri Minga Sherpa. I came to know that a tragic road accident had taken place in Connaught village. A bus going from Ramnagar to Udhampur was involved in this accident.
He wrote that rescue operations have been started immediately. There is a possibility of many casualties in this. Every possible help is being provided. The injured will be sent to the hospital for treatment. Arrangements are being made to airlift seriously injured people. He wrote that along with the local administration, I am also in constant touch with our team of local workers led by Rajinder Sharma.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed deep condolence over the tragic road accident that occurred with a passenger bus going from Ramnagar to Udhampur. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Chief Minister assured that the Government stands firmly with the victims and their families in this hour of grief, and all possible necessary assistance is being provided to them.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha wrote on the social media platform that the tragic road accident in Udhampur is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. May God give them strength. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. I have instructed the district administration, police, SDRF and health department to provide all possible assistance to the affected people.
Last month, two people had died in separate road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Tabassum Naz, assistant professor of Poonch Degree College, died and her husband was seriously injured in an accident in Kallar area of Rajouri district. Whereas, in another accident at Rail Gund in Ganderbal district, one person from Kargil district of Ladakh died while four others were injured. The injured include two tourists from Maharashtra and two citizens from Ladakh Union Territory.
