New Delhi: The chaos that broke out after the match played between India A and Sri Lanka A in Dambulla on June 15 has now taken a heavy toll on the players. After the end of the match, there was a heated argument between Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi and some players of Sri Lanka A, which reached the level of pushing and shoving. In this case, Sri Lanka Cricket has taken disciplinary action and imposed punishment on the players involved.
According to the report of Cricbuzz, the name of Vishen Halambage is also included among the players against whom action has been taken. Halambage is the same player with whom Suryavanshi had the most arguments. The matter had escalated so much that a scuffle broke out between the two on the field.
Sri Lanka Cricket has not yet told how much punishment has been imposed on which player. The report said that the match fees of the players involved in the controversy have been cut, but complete information has not been revealed officially.
The match referee in this match was Pradeep Jayapragash. He took this decision after reviewing the entire matter. At present it is not clear whether any action has been taken against the Indian players or not.
Dickwella also got trapped after trying to intervene
An interesting twist in this controversy came when action was taken against Sri Lanka A’s experienced wicketkeeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella. Dickwella was trying to resolve the dispute and tried to separate Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Halambage.
But Sri Lanka Cricket’s action against Dickwella was not because of that feud. He has been accused of making excessive appeals during the match, due to which he also had to face disciplinary punishment.
The match went till super over
This match between India A and Sri Lanka A was very exciting and the match reached the super over. The tension among the players was clearly visible after the high-voltage match. As soon as the match ended, an argument started and the matter escalated.
After the incident, Sri Lanka Cricket has taken a strict stance and made it clear that action will be taken against players who break discipline on the field.
