On this occasion, Sandhu appreciated the significant contribution of Gadvasu towards animal husbandry, dairy farming and welfare of the farming community. He said that animal husbandry and allied activities are an important part of the agricultural economy of Punjab. It is necessary to adopt modern, scientific and sustainable methods to increase the productivity of animal husbandry, improve the income of farmers and strengthen the rural economy.
Shri Sandhu also took stock of the exhibitions and presentations organized in the fair. He stressed the need for better coordination between scientific institutions and the farming community to disseminate research-based knowledge and new technologies to the farmers.
He said that through such fairs, Gadvasu is providing a common platform to farmers and experts, thereby promoting animal health care, scientific animal management and dairy development. He also appreciated the veterinary education, research and farmer centric extension services of the university.
During the function, Harpreet Sandhu presented awards to the farmers who have made outstanding contribution in the animal husbandry and dairy sector. Apart from this, mementos were also presented to the research fellows of the university for their contribution in veterinary research and scientific innovation.
On this occasion, Gadvasu Vice Chancellor Dr. J.P.S. Gill, in the presence of Deans, Directors and faculty members, honored the Chief Guest Harpreet Sandhu and thanked him for attending the closing ceremony of the fair.
