Stir in Delhi High Court: Obscene video played during virtual hearing in Chief Justice’s court; investigation orders

Bureau Prayagraj- A strange and embarrassing situation arose in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday when preparations were going on to hear a case in the Chief Justice’s court through virtual conferencing (VC). As soon as the judge sat on his chair, suddenly an obscene video started playing on the VC system. The judge, lawyers and staff present in the courtroom were stunned by this unexpected incident.

According to the information, this incident happened when the High Court was about to start its regular proceedings. It is being told that the obscene video was played not once but twice. In view of this situation, the VC system was immediately shut down as a precautionary measure and the technical team was called.

Quoting sources, it is reported that this video has been found to be linked to the log-in ID of persons named Shridhar Sarnobat and Shitjit Singh. However, official confirmation is yet to be made in this matter whether it was an intentional mischief by someone or a breach was made in the security of the system.

Hybrid and virtual hearings in the courts have been arranged for transparent justice, but this incident has exposed the shortcomings of its monitoring system. Immediately after the incident, the VC system was shut down as a precautionary measure so that such a situation does not happen again and the IT and technical team of the High Court has been instructed to thoroughly investigate the matter.

At present, the process of fixing responsibility for this entire incident is going on and it has been made clear that strict legal action can be taken against those found guilty.
