The Middle East continues to burn in the flames of war. US President Donald Trump said that the possession of the Strait of Hormuz is now completely in their hands. The US president also said that there will be no further talks with Iran. At the same time, he demanded that the Strait of Hormuz should be renamed after him.
On his own social media, Truth Social, Trump was seen writing, 'Now that this strait is under American control, shouldn't the Strait of Hormuz be renamed the Strait of Trump?' Of course, Trump has been seen making such a claim before. Even before this, Trump has been seen claiming to be the 'guardian of Hormuz'. In other words, in the war that started in February, Trump has repeatedly claimed that his country has occupied Hormuz. Iran has repeatedly rejected that claim. However, in the words of the US president, 'almost all of the Strait of Hormuz is now in our possession. And Iran's economy is now completely destroyed. Now we don't care if they sign a contract or not.'
However, Trump has raised the issue of changing the name of a geographical place before. On August 27, amid tensions with Canada, he ordered to name Lake Ontario 'Lake America'. The new name has even appeared on Google and Apple Maps for US users. But in Canada, the lake is known as 'Lake Ontario'.
However, Trump's popularity is not increasing, but decreasing. At least that's what the survey claims. The survey found that only 31 percent of Americans support the Trump administration's military action against Iran. The rate was 37 percent in a March Reuters/Ipsos survey. At the beginning of this month, this rate decreased to 34 percent.
